April 3, 2012
[ by Melanie Gretchen ] Barclays has appointed Larry Wieseneck to the chief strategy officer for its corporate and investment bank, a newly created role, according to an internal memo from Jerry del Missier and Rich Ricci this week.  Effective immediately, Mr. Wieseneck, who was named Barclays’ head of global finance and risk solutions in 2008, will be responsible for making sure that all of the bank’s businesses are focused on the firm’s strategic plans. A Lehman veteran,  Mr. Wieseneck will join the firm’s executive committee.  Going forward, he will also continue to be involved in working with clients as well, according to the memo.  His successors, John Langley and Joe McGrath will report to Hugh McGee, head of global investment banking at Barclays, and will join the investment bank’s executive committee. Mr. Langley, who joined Barclays from Merrill Lynch in 2006, was named head of global risk solutions last year.  Mr. McGrath joined Barclays from Goldman Sachs in 2006 and was named head of global leveraged finance in 2010.
