Cannabis Company Files to List on NYSE
Innovative Industrial Properties filed an S-11 on 10/17 to be a public company with a listing on the New York Stock Exchange, according to New Cannabis Ventures. It will be the first publicly-traded cannabis-related Real Estate Investor Trust (REIT) and, if approved, would be the first cannabis company to be traded at the venerable NYSE – and could be listed in 4 to 6 weeks. Of course, approval is not a sure thing. The REIT plans to sell nearly 9 million shares at $20 a share and use the symbol IIPR. With 10 million total shares outstanding, the company would have a $200 million valuation.
Innovative Industrial Properties plans to focus its holdings in New York, Illinois, Maryland, California, Arizona, Washington, Nevada, Massachusetts and Oregon. All states with some form of legalized marijuana.
