CFTC Technology Advisory Committee to Meet

December 7, 2011
The CFTC will host an all-day public meeting of its Technology Advisory Committee on 12/13/11 that will focus on 3 significant issues facing the futures and swaps industries as it adopts final rules mandated under the Dodd-Frank Act.  The meeting will be held at CFTC headquarters in Washington, DC.   The issues are:
  1. what you can expect to see in the new trading environment of swap execution facilities ("SEFs");
  2. defining, classifying, and observing high frequency traders (HFTs) and their impact on the markets; and,
  3. interim recommendations from the Subcommittee on Data Standardization re: (i) universal product and legal entity identifiers; (ii) standardization of machine-readable legal contracts;  (iii) semantics; and, (iv) data storage and retrieval.
Seating is on a first-come, first served basis;  it also will be webcast via the internet.  Audio of the meeting will be available via a listen-only conference call.  A video recording will be posted on the internet through a link on CFTC’s website.
