Clifford Chance's New Litigation Partners
October 13, 2011
Three former federal prosecutors from New York are reuniting in private practice, agreeing to join the law firm Clifford Chance. David Raskin, Christopher Morvillo and Edward O’Callaghan will soon become litigation partners in New York, focusing on white collar and regulatory defense work.
Mr. Raskin is coming straight from his prosecutorial post with the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan, while Mr. Morvillo and Mr. O’Callaghan departed the government 6 and 3 years ago, respectively.
“It’s a rare occurrence when three litigators the caliber of David, Chris and Ed agree to move from different organizations to form, and join, a terrific team; we’re obviously thrilled they’re doing that with us,” David DiBari, the firm’s United States litigation and dispute resolution practice area leader, said in a statement.
Attorney CVs. Apart from having a common employer, their careers have followed vastly different paths. Mr. Raskin, 47, was a sports reporter for The NYTimes before he became a lawyer in the mid 1990s. At the U.S. attorney’s office, he led the terrorism and national security unit.
Mr. Morvillo, also 47, prosecuted mostly fraud, money laundering and narcotics cases. Since leaving the government, he's focused on white collar defense and internal investigations, most recently as a partner at Morvillo, Abramowitz.
Mr. O’Callaghan, 42, worked with Mr. Raskin prosecuting national security cases. He's now the practice leader at Nixon Peabody’s government investigations and white collar defense team. [Dealbook, 10/13/11]
