Davis Polk Hires Former Antitrust Regulator
Longtime antitrust regulator Howard Shelanski is joining Davis Polk & Wardwell's Washington office, where he will focus on antitrust and regulatory matters for the law firm's clients while continuing to teach at Georgetown's law school.
Mr. Shelanski previously served as chief economist of the FCC, and as a high-ranking economist with the FTC. In the late 1990's, he was a senior economist for President Clinton's Council of Economic Advisers.
The follows another regulatory hiring by Davis Polk. In June, the firm hired Susan Ervin, a 15-year veteran of the CFTC who spent the last 2 years at the SEC as a senior adviser. Last year, the firm hired Michael Sohn, former general counsel of the FTC. [Dealbook, 8/18/11]
