April 18, 2013

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

Deutsche Bank, continental Europe’s biggest bank by assets, hired a new chief governance officer and deputy global head of compliance in Daniela Weber-Rey, amid's its effort to boost the number of female senior executives it employs.  The firm has a long way to go to satisfy its goals of 25% by the end of 2018 from 18% in 2012, considering the fact that there are currently no women on either of its two highest executive committees.

Ms. Weber-Rey, 55, will join from Clifford Chance LLP, where she is a partner focused on financial institutions, according to the firm's website.  Upon her arrival at the Swiss bank on 6/1, she will report to Deutsche Bank management board member Stephan Leithner, Member of the Management Board and Group Executive Committee, and serve as deputy to compliance chief Andrew Procter.
