Dick Bové Leaving Rochdale

December 11, 2012

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

Dick Bové, the outspoken and leading financial industry analyst, was forced to seek employment elsewhere after an unauthorized $1 billion Apple Inc. trade resulted in losses that jeopardizes his current brokerage firm, Rochdale Securities.  Out of his many, he has narrowed his short list for potential employers to 3 firms - which he declined to name.

Regardless of whichever firm he chooses, the 71-year-old analyst has assured Rochdale CEO Daniel Crowley that he will stay on and give the firm the time it needs to secure rescue financing.  Needless to say, the loss taken on the Apple trade greatly exceeded the firm's net capital.

Bove said this about what priorities he seeks in his next employer:

"The decision I make is really based on whether I want to stay with a small firm and write what I’m going to call provocative research or whether I want to go back in the general Wall Street milieu, dealing with corporate finance issues."
