January 9, 2012
[ by Melanie Gretchen ] William Dudley has been named chairman of the Committee on the Global Financial System, a central bank forum for monitoring and examining issues relating to financial markets and systems.  Mr. Dudley, who is currently president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York president, succeeds Mark Carney, the governor of the Bank of Canada. Mr. Dudley will serve a 3-year term, effective immediately.  Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, he worked at Goldman Sachs from 1986 to 2007, serving as the bank’s chief United States economist for 10 years.
