Ex-Madoff Employee Continues to Cooperate

December 12, 2011
Eric Lipkin, a former employee with Bernie Madoff' & Co., who pleaded guilty to falsifying documents, is continuing to cooperate with authorities.  Accordingly, prosecutors received court approval for a 6-month postponement of Lipkin's sentencing.  [C-I Note: Perhaps they also want to continue to dangle the carrot in front of Lipkin's eyes.] Facing 70 Years. Lipkin, who could be sentenced to as many as 70 years in prison for his role in the Madoff fraud, now will be sentenced 6/15/12. He pleaded guilty in June to 6 criminal counts - including conspiracy, falsifying records and bank fraud.  Lipkin admitted he falsified documents to show non-existent account holdings, to put people on the Madoff payroll who didn't work for the firm, and to fraudulently apply for a construction loan.  He is free on $2.5 million bond. The case: U.S. v. Lipkin, 10-CR-228, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York (Manhattan).    [Bloomberg, 12/9/11]
