Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Hires Key Partner

Magic circle law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has hired former Sullivan & Cromwell litigation partner Michael Lacovara .

His Career to Date.  Mr. Lacovara's practice focused on financial services and technology, including Microsoft on its landmark antitrust case against the US government, United States v Microsoft.  His addition to Freshfields's U.S. litigation practice brings the partner count to 13, following a string of disputed hires by magic circle firms in the US.

Prior to joining the firm, he:

  • launched Sullivan’s Palo Alto office in 2000
  • left Sullivan to become general counsel and co-COO of investment bank Sandler O’Neill & Partners
  • was CEO of Rodman & Renshaw Capital and president of Cortview Capital Holdings, a portfolio company of Warburg Pincus

Mr. Lacovara received degrees from the Harvard Law School, Cambridge University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
