Goldman Has New Head of Elite Special Situations Group

May 3, 2013

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

Goldman Sachs Group partner, Julian Salisbury, was named head of the firm's global special situations group - an elite division that invests in and lends to companies.   Mr. Salisbury replaces Goldman partner Jason Brown, who is retiring.

Julian Salisbury joined Goldman in 1998 and became a Goldman partner in 2008.  He has been running the firm's London-based special situations group up until now, so his current move will necessitate a relocation to New York.  Mr. Salisbury helped found the European group in 2003.  Before leading the European special situations group, Mr. Salisbury worked in Moscow, expanding the group's business.  He became head of that group in 2007.
