Goldman's Names New M&A Heads

March 9, 2011

Goldman Sachs announced in an internal memo that Michael Carr and Dusty Philip are the new M&A co-heads for the Americas.  They replace Tim Ingrassia, who's joining Gene Sykes and Jack Levy as a co-chairman of global M&A.

And so, Goldman continues its staffing changes.  Last month Richard Ruzika, 51, who runs the firm’s special situations group, announced plans to retire from the firm.  Mr. Ruzika is also a member of the firm’s management committee.  The special situations group invests in, and lends to, companies.

In its memo, the firm noted that the priorities of the new co-heads "will be to ensure that we optimally meet our clients’ M&A objectives, expand our market share by deepening client relationships, enhance our leading execution standards and strengthen the integration of M&A with our financing products.  Michael and Dusty will retain their coverage responsibilities for their respective natural resources, health care and industrial clients."
