Improving Advisor Regulation - TD Ameritrade, Georgetown

TD Ameritrade and Georgetown University are collaborating on a study that seeks to enhance investor protection by improving advisor oversight. They plan to explore and assess proposals for regulating investment advisors and provide a balanced assessment of each option.
The study will examine 4 options for advisor oversight:
- continued examination by the SEC.
- creation of a new SRO.
- oversight by FINRA.
- outsourcing exams to the accounting profession.
The final report should be available by the late summer. [FA News, 8/10/11]
