Jones Day Promotes Partner to Head NY Office

January 28, 2013

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

Jones Day has promoted an M&A lawyer to head the firm's New York office.  Wesley Johnson, 58, has been with the firm since he joined Jones Day's Paris office in 1986.  Going forward, however, Mr. Johnson's practice will be based in New York.

During his career at this Washington-based firm, Mr. Johnson has advised a number of large French companies on cross-border deals - including, Alcatel-Lucent, Société Générale, Credit Agricole, and Sanofi – as well as U.S. and Chinese clients.

Mr. Johnson graduated Harvard Law, received an M.A. and B.A. from Cambridge University, and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.  In heading Jones Day's New York office - the firm's largest, with some 300 lawyers - Mr. Johnson succeeds Willis Goldsmith, who had been partner-in-charge of the New York office since 2008.
