JPMorgan Website Not Victim of Cyberattack

April 2, 2013

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

JPMorgan Chase reported that its retail banking website, Chase.com, went dark on Monday due to problems with its server.  A spokesperson admitted to "technical issues" while firmly dismissing the possibility of so-called "denial-of-service" cyberattacks, which have plagued large banks in recent months - e.g., American Express, Wells Fargo, Bank of America.

JPMorgan, the largest U.S. bank, as measured by assets, apologized for the inconvenience and advised customers to use the mobile app until serve is restored.  On a positive note, the bank said that bank branches and ATMs were not affected by the technical issue.    [Market Watch, 4/1/13
