Krawcheck Gone From FINRA After Short Stint

October 10, 2011
Sallie Krawcheck and FINRA have officially parted ways. Krawcheck, who left Bank of America in early September amid a management shake-up, was recently elected a governor of the agency. Without facing a challenger, she won a spot in August representing large brokerage firms on the FINRA board. The agency did not immediately eject Krawcheck from her position. FINRA bylaws do not address what happens when board members suddenly depart their firms. But to keep the seat, she would have had to land at another large brokerage firm in a “short period of time,” an agency official told Dealbook. That short period ended, and Krawcheck is now gone. About a week ago, she quietly stepped down from the board. Now, a special election must be held to fill her vacant seat, a move that is expected in the coming weeks, according to a spokeswoman for the agency. Until then, the 20-member board will be short-handed. [Dealbook, 10/7/11]
