Law Firm Beefs Up Compliance Force
March 15, 2012
[ by Melanie Gretchen ]
An international law firm is joining hedge funds' tendency toward caution, as it reinforces its regulatory and compliance divisions from inside its ranks. Crowell & Moring has named Linda Lerner partner in the Corporate, Financial Services, and White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement groups of the firm's Madison Avenue office.
An employee at the firm since 2011, Ms. Lerner will continue her work in regulation and compliance. Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, she spent 7 years at Debevoise & Plimpton as broker-dealer regulatory counsel, following 12 years as General Counsel at broker-dealer Domestic Securities, focused on regulatory and compliance issues.
Ms. Lerner began her career as an associate and a partner at New York law firms. She received her J.D. magna cum laude from Brooklyn Law School, graduating first in her class. She holds her M.S. in Social Work from Columbia University and her bachelor's from Brandeis University.
