Lloyd Blankfein Joins 'A' List on Oscar Night

March 7, 2013

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein put the Davos Economic Conference behind him to attend the Oscars last week.  However, Mr. Blankfein's beard - which had a neat one-week growth at the conference - was somewhat scraggly on Oscar Night - for those who missed his walk toward the end of the red-carpet festivities.

Mr. Blankfein and wife Laura attended the Weinstein Co. pre-Oscar party at the Soho House before the televised event.  CNBC's John Carney said he wouldn't  be surprised if Lloyd's attendance at the Oscars was "the first time a sitting CEO of Goldman Sachs has ever even seriously thought about attending an Oscars party, much less actually attended one."

And yet, this seems fitting.  After all, why shouldn't Wall Street royalty be amongst the broader celebrity culture?
