Madoff Made-for-TV Movie: Kevin Bacon in a Cameo Appearance

June 2, 2011

Actor Kevin Bacon would be a natural in a TV movie about Bernie Madoff.  And he no doubt would have plenty of personal incentive to do so.  You see, Kevin Bacon and wife Kyra Sedgwick lost millions in Bernie's Ponzi scheme.  It's not a done deal - i.e., having Mr. Bacon appear - but he might be willing, because he essentially would be recouping  some of his Madoff losses off of the man who perpetrating the scheme.

[C-I Note:  Having played a sharp-tongued Navy prosecutor "A Few Good Men" didn't quite prepare Mr. Bacon for doing better due diligence on his investments.  The same thing goes for real-life lawyer, Steven Simkin, who heads the Paul Weiss real estate practice.]

After hearing that Robert De Niro might portray convicted fraudster Bernie Madoff in this small screen biopic for HBO, mr. Bacon told Britain's The Sun, "How great would it be if I could play myself and make an appearance and get a chance to work with Bob again?"   The two starred in the 1996 film "Sleepers."   [WENN, 6/1/11]
