Madoff v. NYMets: A Huge 'Opening Day Lineup'

    Leading off, for the defendants, in the recently unsealed lawsuit, which Madoff trustee Irving Picard filed last December, are New York Mets principal owners Saul Katz and Fred Wilpon.  The rest of the bloated lineup of "et al" defendants occupies no less than 2-1/2 pages, and includes individuals, trusts, estates and, of course, local baseball teams.

    "Opening Day LIne-Up.  SAUL B. KATZ leads off, in his individual capacity, and as trustee of the Katz 2002 Descendants’ Trust.  Next is FRED WILPON, in his individual capacity, as trustee of the Wilpon 2002 Descendants’ Trust, and as co-executor of the Estate Of Leonard Schreier.  Here are the other defendants:

  1. RICHARD WILPON, in his individual capacity, as trustee of the Fred Wilpon Family Trust, and as trustee of the Saul B. Katz Family Trust;
  2. MICHAEL KATZ, in his individual capacity, and as the trustee of the Saul B. Katz Family Trust;
