Mayer Brown Partner Confirmed as Federal Judge

President Barack Obama nominated this Chicago-based attorney in May 2012, relying on recommendations from Senators Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk of Illinois. Mayer Brown LLP partner Thomas Durkin, the referenced Chicago-based litigator, was unanimously confirmed by the U. S. Senate to serve as a U.S. district judge for the Northern District of Illinois. He will be sworn in next year, on 1/14/13.
Mr. Durkin will be the 5th former Mayer Brown partner to serve on the bench of the Chicago-based Northern District. The other four are:
- District Judge Robert Dow Jr.,
- District Judge Gary Feinerman
- District Judge John Tharp
- Magistrate Judge Sheila Finnegan.
Mr. Durkin, along with 3 of the judges - Dow, Tharp Finnegan - spent their entire careers in private practice at Mayer Brown.
