MF Global: Corzine Assembles Defense Team

MF Global CEO Jon Corzine is quickly assembling a defense team, in preparation for the wave of lawsuits and regulatory investigations that are leveled in his direction. And none too soon because, MF Global investor, filed a lawsuit naming Mr. Corzine, the company's board and several other top executives. The complaint charges that Mr. Corzine and others made misleading statements about the firm's financial condition before its collapse. The shareholder seeks class action status for his complaint.
Hired Lawyers. Mr. Corzine hired lawyers from Perkins Coie LLP in New York to represent him in the brokerage liquidation and the reorganization of the parent holding company. Corzine also retained Andrew Levander, a Dechert LLP partner, to represent him in the fallout from MF's collapse into bankruptcy.
The brokerage case is: In re MF Global Inc., 11-ap-2790, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York (Manhattan).
