Morgan Stanley 'Drops' MSSB

September 25, 2012

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

Morgan Stanley: What better way to make a name for yourself than to start by creating a new name for yourself?  The firm's U.S. wealth management business, previously called Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, has been renamed Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.

The business provides access to a wide range of products and services to individuals, businesses and institutions.  This includes:

  • brokerage and investment advisory services
  • financial and wealth planning
  • credit and lending
  • cash management
  • annuities and insurance
  • retirement and trust services

Since the inception of the joint venture between Morgan Stanley and Citigroup, Morgan Stanley has been making steady progress on acquiring the rest of MSSB [see our Who's News story, "Could Morgan Stanley Own Smith Barney By Year's End?"].
