Morgan Stanley to Advise Banks Worldwide
October 27, 2011
Morgan Stanley has formed a new team focused on advising banks worldwide on capital and financing issues, according to an internal memorandum obtained by DealBook.
The new team - to be known as the "Financial Institutions Group - Global Capital Markets," or "FIG," will both advise clients and underwrite stock and debt offerings, according to the memo.
The group will be led by Shyam Parekh, an MD based in London, and Kevin Ryan and Taylor Wright, who are in New York.
Parekh most recently headed the FIG capital markets team for Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Ryan ran the FIG Solutions group in the United States, which already advises clients on capital and regulatory issues. Wright was most recently the head of the FIG equity underwriting team in the United States.
Two other executives - Claus Skrumsager and Leo Civitillo - were promoted to global co-heads of debt derivatives. Skrumsager is already the head of European fixed-income capital markets, while Civitillo is his counterpart for the Americas. [Dealbook, 10/25/11]
