Morgan Stanley Top Banker Moves On

September 8, 2011
Stuart Epstein, the outgoing head of Morgan Stanley’s media and communications banking group, has accepted a position with long-time client Comcast - an NBC Universal majority owner.  He will serve as CFO when he starts in mid-October. Mr. Epstein was one of the key advisers to Comcast in its negotiations to buy control of NBC Universal from General Electric and Vivendi.  He has spent his entire career at Morgan Stanley, having joined the firm in 1984 and then having worked in the firm’s New York and London offices. For Paul Taubman, co-president of Morgan Stanley’s securities business (and a longtime media rainmaker in his own right, has got to be pleased, because Stuart's new role offers the firm an opportunity to continue serving as an investment banker to Comcast.  [DealBook, 9/7/11]
