Morgan Stanley's Got a New COO

January 4, 2011

Jim Rosenthal is the new Chief Operating Officer of Morgan Stanley.  Previously, he headed technology and operations before being promoted to head of corporate strategy in December 2009.  As COO, Mr. Rosenthal will also have additional responsibilities for Ops and IT, HR, corp. communications, marketing, community affairs and corporate services.  He replaces Thomas Nides, who left in the fall to become Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources.

Mr. Rosenthal joined M. Stanley in March 2008 from Tishman Speyer, where he had served as CFO since 2006.  Before that, he had worked at Lehman Brothers and McKinsey & Company.  He's a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law.

Chief Legal Officer Frank Barron and CFO Ruth Porat will take on added responsibilities.   [NYT Dealbook, 1/4/11]
