Morrison & Foerster Appoints Managing Partner

June 26, 2012
[ by Melanie Gretchen ] Morrison & Foerster LLP has named a new managing partner of the firm's Denver office. Litigator Randall Fons, currently co-chairman of the firm’s securities litigation, enforcement, and white-collar defense group, will succeed Whitney Holmes, to focus on corporate finance, securities, and mergers and acquisitions. A partner with the firm since 2006, Mr. Fons has plans to continue the growth that started under Mr. Holmes by further expanding the 15- lawyer office, particularly in the corporate and private equity practices.  Mr. Holmes was in charge of the office for the past 3 years. Prior to joining the firm, he spent 18 years with the SEC, where he headed investigations and prosecution of market manipulation, insider trading, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations, and financial fraud, in addition to cases against auditors, broker-dealers, and investment advisers.  At the Commission, he also served as regional director of the SEC’s Central and Southeast Regional Offices, overseeing multi-state enforcement activities. Mr. Fons, who will continue his current role, joins more than 1,000 lawyers of the firm, which has offices in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. For further details, go to [Bloomberg, 6/13/12].
