February 11, 2013

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

A week after Hillary Clinton stepped down as Secretary of State, she rose to the position of the most  popular U.S. politician, according to a national poll.  All told, 61% approved of Ms. Clinton, while 34% had an unfavorable opinion, according to the survey by Quinnipiac University released on Friday.

In comparison, President Barack Obama, 51, earned a "favorable" opinion from 51% of poll participants, versus 46% who had an unfavorable opinion.  Vice President Joe Biden, 70, received a positive reception from 46%, and a negative one from 41%.  Both Ms. Clinton and Mr. Biden are considered potential presidential candidates for 2016.

For her part, Mrs. Clinton, 65, does not see herself going back to politics, she has said, while leaving that possibility open.
