New NYSE Rule 80B Circuit Breaker Levels
January 4, 2012
NYSE-Regulation provided NYSE and Amex members with the levels at which Rule 80B trading halts will be triggered during the 1st quarter of 2012. For the next 3 months, trading halts will be triggered when the DJIA declines below its closing value on the previous trading day by:
- 1,200 points (Level 1)
- 2,400 points (Level 2)
- 3,600 points (Level 3).
Level 1 Halt. One Hour - if before 2:00 p.m. 30 Minutes - 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Trading Continues - 2:30 and later, unless there's a Level 2
Level 2 Halt. Two Hours - Before 1:00 p.m. One Hour - 1:00 p.m. but until 2:00 p.m. trading halted for rest of day - on or after 2:00 p.m.
Level 3 Halt. trading halted for rest of day - at any time of the day.
