New STA Head a Former Merrill Trader
James (Jim) Toes will be the next CEO and president of the Security Traders Association. His extensive trading experience and varied background while with BofA Merrill Lynch will serve him well during his term. STA chairman Joseph Cangemi spoke favorably about Mr. Toes' many attributes, including his ability to testify before Congress on market structure.
Mr. Toes is a past president of STA's biggest chapter, the STANY, or Security Traders Association of New York. He's also a past governor and secretary of STA, and has served on various STA market structure committees. Mr. Toes spent 17 years at (BofA)ML. Prior to leaving, he was a senior relationship manager at Broadcort, clearing division of BA-ML. Among other posts held, he dealt with retail, broker-dealer, middle market and institutional clients.
Jim Toes succeeds longtime STA president and CEO John Giesea. Giesea served in those posts for a decade. The transition is set for 3/1/11. The STA has about 27 affiliates and 4,200 members. [Traders Online, 216]
