Rajaratnam Prosecutor Going to Biglaw

January 13, 2012
[ by Melanie Gretchen ] Perhaps the career opportunity to leave the Manhattan U.S. attorney's office for Dechert was, in effect, a bonus for a job well done in leading the prosecution's case against Galleon's Raj Rajaratnam on insider trading charges.  In any case, Jonathan Streeter, 43, will make the firm move in February. Mr. Streeter has been with the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's office since 2000 and, prior to handling the Rajaratnam case in May 2011, he led the government's case against lawyer Marc Dreier, who pled guilty in 2009 to a $400 million fraud. At Dechert, Streeter joins as an equity partner in the firm's white collar and securities litigation practice, alongside partner Andrew Levander, who represents former MF Global CEO Jon Corzine.
