SEC Actions on Unused Filing Fees

May 16, 2011

The SEC extended the time it will hold onto funds in certain (dormant) filing fee accounts.  Where there has not been a deposit, withdrawal or other adjustment is such accounts, the holding period has been extended from 180 days to 3 years.  After 3 years, the SEC will initiate the return of funds to the account holder without any action by the account holder.  As always, account holders may request a refund of such fees at any time.   [SEC Final Rule Release No. 33-9208, 5/13/11]
