SEC Exodus: Sharon Binger to Leave as Director of SEC Phil. Office

December 21, 2016

Sharon Binger, Director of the Philadelphia Regional Office, will leave the agency at the end of the year.  Jeffrey Boujoukos will succeed her, as reported earlier in financialish.com.  [http://www.financialish.com/article/jeffrey-boujoukos-is-new-director-of-sec-philadelphia-office-]

Ms. Binger has headed the Philadelphia office since February 2014 where she oversees more than 150 attorneys, accountants, and other professionals responsible for conducting investigations, litigation, and examinations in a region covering Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and D.C.

Among other things, Ms. Binger helped bring about successful changes in the exam program, by initiating a more risk-focused approach to exams and by adapting the program to the large influx of newly-registered hedge fund managers and PE funds under Dodd-Frank.

Ms. Binger joined SEC Enforcement in 2008, and was promoted to assistant regional director in the SEC New York Office in 2011.  She joined the SEC from a large international law firm.  Ms. Binger graduated from Northwestern in 1998 and earned her law degree with honors from Duke Law in 2001.
