SEC Extends Filing Deadlines, Post-Sandy

November 7, 2012

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

The SEC is in the process of extending deadlines to accommodate those affected by Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath, the agency said on its website.  Extensions of filing deadlines, among other relief measures that SEC are preparing, would apply to any filing due during the period from October 29, 2012 to November 20, 2012.  These would apply to, among others:

  • publicly traded companies
  • investment companies
  • investment advisers
  • other persons with filing obligations
  • accountants
  • brokerage firms
  • transfer agents

Extension would be granted to any individual and entity with a filing obligation that cannot file timely due to Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath.  In addition, the SEC will review requests for additional relief on a case-by-case basis.  The expected extended deadline is November 21, 2012.
