SEC Has New Associate Reg'l Director for Enforcement in New York

The SEC promoted Sanjay Wadhwa to Associate Regional Director for Enforcement in the New York Regional Office, effective immediately.   Mr. Wadhwa also will continue to serve as Deputy Chief of the Market Abuse Unit headed by Daniel Hawke.  Mr. Wadhwa joins the office's 2 other Associate Directors - Andrew Calamari, David Rosenfeld.  That senior management team supervises a staff of 180 attorneys, investigators, accountants and paralegals, and oversight of all enforcement activities in the New York office. 

He's been serving as an Assistant Regional Director and as Deputy Chief of the Enforcement Division's Market Abuse Unit.  Since July 2003, Sanjay Wadhwa has served in enforcement for the NYRO, first as a senior attorney, then branch chief, and later Assistant Regional Director.   He was named Deputy Chief of the Market Abuse Unit when it was created last year.

        Before joining the SEC ...  Mr. Wadhwa served 7 years as an associate in the New York law firms of Cahill, Gordon & Reindel, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.  He has degrees from NYU Law, So. Texas College of Law, and Florida Atlantic Universit.   [SEC Release 11-80, 4/1]
