SEC Hires New Regional Director

August 19, 2011

The SEC has selected a litigation partner from the law firm of Vinson & Elkins LLP to serve as its next Regional Director of the Fort Worth Regional Office.  David Woodcock, who's based in the firm’s Austin office, will begin in mid-September.

Mr. Woodcock's practice has focused on securities and commercial litigation, internal corporate investigations, complex accounting and auditing issues, and antitrust matters.  He also has significant appellate experience.  Prior to his legal career, Mr. Woodcock practiced public accounting for several years at Price Waterhouse and Ernst & Young.

As Regional Director, Mr. Woodcock will oversee the Fort Worth office’s enforcement and examination activities in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, as well as the office’s enforcement activities in Kansas.  He succeeds Rose Romero, who departed the SEC in March.

Mr. Woodcock earned a BA in accounting from LSU in 1992, and a JD from U. of Texas Law in 2000.  He served as a law clerk for the Honorable Howell Cobb of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.   [SEC PR 11-168, 8/12/11]
