SEC: Identifying Risks, Uncertainty in Financial Reporting

The SEC will hold its inaugural roundtable in the Financial Reporting Series on November 8th.  The SEC Chief Accountant seeks to proactively help identify risks and potential improvements in the financial information provided to investors. The topic for the inaugural roundtable is ... the extent to which financial reporting should include measurement uncertainties and information that investors find for understanding and assessing those uncertainties.

"We want to consider whether the right balance has been struck to provide investors with useful information...." -- SEC Chief Accountant James Kroeker.

Public Is Invited. Three panels will be filled by investors, financial statement preparers, and auditors.   A final agenda and list of participants will be published closer to the event date.  The chairs of the FASB and the PCAOB the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board will attend as observers. The public is invited to attend at the SEC's headquarters in Washington, D.C. - seating on a first-come, first-served basis.  It also will be shown via a live webcast on the SEC website.
