SEC Names Deputy Chief Litigation Counsel

[ by Melanie Gretchen ] The SEC appointed a new Deputy Chief Litigation Counsel in Enforcement, whose role it is to assist in the oversight of the Washington headquarters trial unit, as well as trial attorneys in 11 regional offices. Background. Matthew Solomon, 39, will start in June, succeeding Mark Adler who left the agency to serve as Deputy Chief Trial Counsel at the PCAOB (Public Company Accounting Oversight Board).  Prior to joining the U.S. Attorney's Office, he was a federal prosecutor, most recently as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia, and in the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. In addition, he served as a Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee after beginning his legal career as a law clerk to Judge James Robertson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and then as a law clerk for Judge Dennis Jacobs of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  Mr. Solomon received his J.D. magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center and his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Wesleyan University.
