SEC Promotes Assistant Chief Counsel

January 15, 2013

[ by Melanie Gretchen ]

A 17-year veteran of the SEC was promoted to Deputy Director of the Division of Investment Management.  David Grim currently serves as Assistant Chief Counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel, where he's been since 1998.  Mr. Grim has been honored with several awards for his legal and managerial work.  Earlier in his SEC career, Mr. Grim served in the Office of Investment Company Regulation (Mutual Funds) as a Staff Attorney.

With the Investment Management Division, Mr. Grim now will get involved with that group's mission, which is to protect investors, promote informed investment decisions, and facilitate innovation in investment products and services through regulation of the asset management industry.

Investment Management Director Norm Champ had this to say about his new Deputy Director:  "We are pleased to welcome Dave to his new role ....  He brings intellectual curiosity and extensive management experience, and is committed to our program of making the division an organization that grows through continuous improvement."

While earning his law degree at George Washington University, Mr. Grim also served as Managing Editor of the Journal of International Law and Economics.  His undergraduate degree is from Duke.   [SEC Press Release 2013-5, 1/15/13]
