Securities License Exams to Cost More

February 3, 2012
[ by Melanie Gretchen ] FINRA is raising the cost on all qualification exams - Series 7, 16, 24, etc. - except for the Operational Professional Series 99.  Increases range up to 12.5%.  FINRA says higher operational costs are the reason for the change. The Series 52 exam for Municipal Securities Representatives will actually rise 26% - from $95 to $120 - because of 2 components: $15 of the fee increase is attributable to the MSRB's increase in the length of the exam back in January 2011;  $10 of the increase will offset FINRA's higher operational costs in administering the exam. While FINRA filed the new rates for immediate effectiveness, they will be implemented this spring - on or after 4/2/12. For a complete list of license exams and their corresponding fees, go to [FINRA, 2/2/12].
