TD Ameritrade Founder Sued for Sexual Harassment

June 27, 2011

Joe Ricketts, the founder of TD Ameritrade and owner of the Chicago Cubs, is being sued by two Nebraska women complaining of sexual harassment.  Patricia Davis and Patricia Duncan filed a federal lawsuit against Mr. Ricketts and the Opportunity Education Foundation after they were fired from the charity, which provides educational opportunities to children in developing nations.

Ricketts allegedly re-hired the charity’s COO after he had been fired based on the women’s complaints.  The suit alleges that the COO often commented about Davis’ legs and cleavage, and once putted a golf ball into Duncan’s office, saying “I’m trying to get into your hole.”  The Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission found reasonable cause of retaliation but not of sexual harassment.   Ricketts’ attorney said Wednesday the lawsuit was meritless.   [Associated Press, 6/22/11]
