Wells Fargo Accused by Whistleblower

August 12, 2011

Ex-financial adivsor Pamela Bolanis claims she was fired by Wells Fargo Advisors for cooperating with a company investigation.  The firm had been looking into the activities of her supervisor, Christopher Sargent, for possible insider trading and unsuitable investments for elderly clients, among other things.  It's alleged that, upon learning she was helping in the investigation, the supervisor fired Ms. Bolanis.

Ms. Bolanis also claims that the HR Department at Wells Fargo Advisors did nothing to stop the retaliation, while the Compliance Department told her the SEC wouldn't be interested in insider trading allegations because "no one made a lot of money."

Both Wells Fargo and Sargent said Bolanis' claims are "without merit."   [Workforce, 7/28/11]
