'Work Release' Program at BigLaw

A while back, BigLaw had the reputation for being inflexible about, well, flexible work schedules. AboveTheLaw reports that times and mores have changed in the legal community. Several firms now permit associates to telecommute – at least on an informal basis.

 

  • Shearman & Sterling adopted a policy allowing associates to work from home two days a month.
  • Morgan Lewis & Bockius just adopted a formal remote-working program, enabling to telecommute 1-2 days a week beginning in their 3d year.

 

Apparently, the new policy the added benefit of promoting diversity.
