Staffing Firm Faces Class Action Over Widespread Race Bias

December 7, 2016

A large staffing firm in the Chicago area routinely denied jobs to black employees who "looked gang related" or because clients preferred Hispanic workers, according to a lawsuit filed on Tuesday.

According to the proposed class action filed in federal court in Chicago, 5 former employees of MVP Staffing devised code words to distinguish black and Hispanic workers and passed over black people who were eligible for jobs in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1866. The suit also names 7 companies that used MVP workers.
