Trump's Revised Travel Ban: A First Court Setback

On Friday, a federal judge in Wisconsin barred enforcement of Donald Trump's revised travel ban as it applies to entry into the United State by the wife and child of a Syrian refugee already granted asylum in the U.S. The significance of this very narrow temporary restraining order is that it’s the first of many challenges that have and are expected to be brought against Trump’s new Executive Order. That order goes into effect 3/16/17.

In his ruling, U.S. District Judge William Conley, an Obama appointee, stated that the plaintiff "has presented some likelihood of success on the merits" of his case and that his family faces "significant risk of irreparable harm" if forced to remain in Syria.
